"So close to heaven" - a touching documentary drama

An artillery soldier and a photographer in the First World War. Leopold Guggenberger, Franz Pachleitner. Both bear witness to the everyday life at the front. A diary, numerous photographies. Their paths cross, they become friends. Both act with passion. But in the end there is disillusionment. Photo documents about an aircraft shooting on the Southern Front in 1918 - the death of Leopold Guggenberger, the end of a friendship so close before the end of one of the darkest chapters in human history. But their testimonies are evidence and are a memorial against the war because they show us that the hope of the soldiers was neither based on war nor on victory. It was based on peace.

"Small is Beautiful" - January 17, 2015 on ORFIII

An award winning documentary by Alfred Ninaus. "Economic crisis and climate change shuttle the world to the very foundations. Is the negalomaniac globalisation followed by a new modesty? There is evidence to suggest it - and Leopold Kohr, originating from Austria, has already known about it.The growth of the human system seems to have reached its limits. Economic crises, crashing bank empires and the consequences of climate change shake the globalized world. Is that necessarily bad? Should the doctrine of eternal growth not be questioned? Can a new modesty not open new perspectives? Leopold Kohr has put questions like this already 50 years ago. 1983 Kohr has been awarded with Alternative Nobel Prize. However, the Austrian economist and philosopher, who was born in Salzburg, has remained widely unknown in his homeland. This film reminds us with sustainability of Leopold Kohrs ideas."
