Austria's mountain villages II

The second season of the award-winning documentary series takes viewers on a journey to unique mountain villages across Austria and South Tyrol. From the eastern foothills of the Alps in Styria to Salzburg's Pongau region and the most remote high valleys of Vorarlberg, the series explores communities shaped by alpine life and tradition. Each episode introduces individuals whose life stories reflect not only the timeless rhythms of village life but also the profound changes these communities have undergone. These are portraits of a mountain farming world where generations coexist on a single farm, each contributing in their own way. Grandchildren build on the foundations laid by their grandparents while adapting to the demands of modernity with creativity and resilience. In these high-altitude regions, nature imposes strict limits, making excessive farming impossible and fostering a delicate balance between people and their environment. These mountain villages, isolated yet vibrant, represent small-scale worlds of alpine seclusion – places where tradition and innovation coexist harmoniously.
